Jeff Buckley – Sweet Thing (Live at the Sin-e)

Sweet Thing is the best Van Morrison song and to cover it is definitely a large undertaking as you will inevitably be judged very candidly upon your performance. This recording is from 1993 when Jeff Buckley was still an unknown talent, the son of a semi-successful folk musician, playing in night clubs and bars trying to make a name for himself. While the guitar work itself is worthy of paragraphs, Buckley’s vocals are  haunting and tremendous. Imagine dipping into a bar on a rainy night in New York City and hearing something like this.
