The Grateful Dead – Jack Straw (7-9-89)

Absolute fire version of my favourite Dead song. The transition from the slow and hypnotic way they played it in the 70s to the energy charged madness heard in this show is amazing. The tasty piano fills, when Bobby has to grab a pick because he knows his fingers will break with how hard he’s strumming, and both drummers pounding the toms. The crowd doesn’t even know how to dance anymore, they’re just jumping up and down!

Crunch city! Love Bobby’s jorts in the ’80s. Also, those carpets look super comfy
